Our Stories
Thanks to our amazing campers who have chosen to share their precious memories of their time with us!
Frances Says ....
"I remember the first time i went to camp ( it was 1992), having to leave mum and dad, i hopped on the bus rather scared, it was the first time i had left mum and dad since i got sick... but thanks to my companion who was awesome and really supportive i really enjoyed my first camp and made many friends. I remember making biscuits, swimming, eating hot chips, jet boating and dancing at the disco. At the end of camp, i was so happy, i had many memories that i could share with mum and dad. Just after i got off the bus, i spotted mum and dad waiting for me but instead of running over to them i went and got a hug from all my new friends. For ages after camp mum and dad heard the stories about what i did while i was away at camp. I am still friends with many of the people i met at my first camp. I went to eight camps as a camper and now i am a companion and still really enjoy the memories from camp."
"Becoming Ambassador of Camp Quality NZ was one of the easiest decisions I have had to make, on or off the field. As the dad of a young family, I understand it could easily be one of my kids and I am in awe of the hundreds of Kiwi children and families that face cancer every day. I see the joy Camp Quality NZ brings to the lives of these children and encourage you to get involved either as a companion, volunteer or a donor. Your contribution will make a huge difference to children living with cancer. It may even be the most rewarding experience you ever have."Little General is a Keen Supporter
